3 Days on Horseback in Sovana
1st day – Arrival at the Sovana Resort or at the Country House near Sovana, where riders will spend 4 nights on half board (breakfast and dinner included).
2nd day – Crossing the Fiora River, we will ride to the very famous and beautiful hot thermal waterfalls of Saturnia (38°C). We will have lunch at the small restaurant located at the edge of the waterfalls; those who wish may enjoy a hot bath and be massaged by the strong current, and then we will return to Sovana. A day of approximately 6 hours in the saddle.
3rd day – We will set off in the same direction as Saturnia for the first 45 minutes, cross the river, and then continue to the beautiful village of “S. Martino sul Fiora,” where we will have lunch in a typical small restaurant. After a short rest and with a full stomach, we will head back toward Sovana, crossing the Fiora River again at a different point many kilometers earlier, along a beautiful path leading to the stables, sometimes passing along the ancient Etruscan hollow roads. A day of maximum 5 hours in the saddle.
4th day – Departure toward the Etruscan hollow roads, with a stop at the beautiful and large Etruscan tomb “Ildebranda” (one of the most beautiful tombs in central Italy). We will continue through the vast vineyards owned by the ANTINORI family, the most renowned winemakers in Italy since 1385, when Giovanni di Piero Antinori founded the first winery. We will then stop for lunch at a countryside restaurant along the route, “La Dogana,” where the food is excellent. After lunch, return to the horses. A day of 4 / 4.5 hours, plus 1–2 additional hours if, in addition to visiting the tombs, you also visit the winery.
5th day – Departure after breakfast.
